This Charles River Condominium started as a strange warren of three old apartments, combined over the past 10 years. The new owners wanted a clean slate as they downsized from their suburban home, and wanted a clean aesthetic to set off the city views. The renovation involved complete removal of all the old systems and partitions, new mechanical systems, new room layouts, new windows, and new landscaped terraces. All accessed through a single passenger elevator. Although the mark of the aesthetic is simple, with clean lines, elegant waves, and modern cabinets; the work was anything but simple. Every square inch was used thoughtfully, and every component carefully transported by hand through a parking garage and up the elevator. The modern finishes are balanced by reclaimed walnut flooring and traditional artwork.
